Front club at Heidenkampsweg 32 in Hamburg, Germany, was founded in 1983 by Willi Prange and Phillip Clarke and closed it’s doors on February 16, 1997. The audience was mixed on Saturday and Wednesday and “Men Only” on Friday.

In the late eighties and nineties almost exclusively house was played, in particular garage and deep house, but also Detroit, Chicago and acid house and ocassionaly a classic disco track were on the menu.

FRONT

Club Front was a trendsetter in the European House music scene in the eighties and early nineties. In the 80s resident DJ Klaus Stockhauser played a pionering role in music trends such as acid house and in the early nineties Boris Dlugosch, who became resident DJ in 1986, did the same with garage and deep house. Other resident DJs were Michael Brown and Michi Lange.


Many international artists as Frankie knuckles and Masters at Work played at club Front and the club played a major role in the succes of the american housemusic label “Strictly Rhythm”.


The legendary FRONT made history by being the first club that played House Music in Germany.
